Paediatric Sepsis Education Package

Most children with sepsis in Queensland present to clinicians without specialised paediatric experience and in a recent review of serious adverse clinical incidents in children with sepsis, knowledge-based and cognitive errors were a large contributor to poor sepsis management.

To address these challenges clinicians in Queensland asked the QPSP to provide accessible, multi-modal paediatric-specific sepsis education. The Paediatric Sepsis Education Package has been developed to target geographically wide-spread healthcare settings and is aimed at varied clinician expertise and disciplines. The Train the Trainer Education Package includes pre and post knowledge checks for clinician assessment and provides local educators with a curriculum of knowledge, skills, and required resources to improve and maintain the sepsis knowledge and confidence of their local clinical teams.
