If your child is taking regular medicines, you can leave their repeat prescription with us. It must be a hospital prescription.
When they need more, you can call or email us. You may be able to pick it up from another hospital or pharmacy closer to you, depending on the medicine. Talk to our pharmacist if this option would suit you better.
If you need medicine urgently, please call us on 07 3068 1932 and ask to speak to a pharmacist.
Email or call us at least 5 working days before you want to pick up the medicine with the following information.
If you don’t tell us what day you plan to pick it up, we’ll have it ready 5 days after you’ve called or emailed us.
Email: QCHPrescriptionRepeat@health.qld.gov.au.
This email address is case sensitive, so make sure you’ve entered it correctly.
We’ll usually get back to you by the next business day. If you don’t get a reply, please call us on 07 3068 1900.
Call: 07 3068 1993.
This is a voicemail service, so make sure you speak slowly and clearly when you’re giving us your child’s information.
We check these twice a day during the week. We don’t check on weekends or public holidays.
If your child is eligible for Medicare, you may be able to get a discount on their prescriptions.
Read more about how you can get help with the cost of your child’s medicines on the Services Australia website.
Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander peoples may be able to get cheaper medicines. Talk to our pharmacy team when you give them your prescription.
If you are in financial hardship and having trouble paying for medicines, speak to our Social Work and Welfare team.
If you'd like to know more about the medicines your child is taking, we have information about some of them. This includes how they should be used and what they're for. If the medicine you’re looking for isn’t on this list, you could talk to your pharmacist or read the leaflet in the packet.
